The Ghost and Mrs. Muir Episode Guide

Season 1
1. Pilot (Original airdate September 21, 1968)
Carolyn Muir, a young widow from Philadelphia, moves into Gull Cottage on the
coast of Maine with her two young children, family dog, and housekeeper. Unknown
to her Gull Cottage is already inhabited by the ghost of the former owner
Captain Daniel Gregg, a charming but somewhat aggravating ghost who is not sure
if he wants this family in his home.
2. Haunted Honeymoon (Original airdate September 28, 1968)
A young couple on the way to their wedding get stranded at Gull Cottage for the
night and Captain Gregg is beside himself at what to do with them. So he decides
they must get married that night.
3. Treasure Hunt (Original airdate October 5, 1968)
With the house badly in need of repair, Carolyn tries to play off Claymore's
vanity by telling him that a national magazine wants to do a photo shoot of Gull
Cottage and if he could attend to some of the work that needs done it would be
much more impressive. The Captain finds her plan amusing and bets her $5 dollars
that Claymore will not do the repairs, but when it appears that he really won't
fix the necessary items, the Captain comes up with a brilliant scheme of his
own.
4. The Ghost Hunter (Original airdate October 12, 1968)
Claymore brings a stranger to look at the house. Captain Gregg thinks he's a
burglar and tries to scare him away, not realizing that he is actually a ghost
hunter.
5. Hero Today, Gone Tomorrow (Original airdate October 19, 1968)
The Schooner Bay Historical Society decides to place a statue of a local hero in
the town square. The president of the society, Miss Elvira Grover takes it upon
herself to choose the person without the voting of the other members, and
decides upon her ancestor--Captain Horatio Figg, a supposed hero of the Mexican
War who died at sea.
6. Vanessa (Original airdate October 26, 12968)
The great-great granddaughter of the Captain's lost love comes to Gull Cottage
to find more information on their romance that she has discovered in letters
that Captain Gregg had written to her ancestor. The Captain is immediately
enchanted by Vanessa and insists that she stay as long as she wishes and have a
free run of the house.
7. The Real James Gatley (Original airdate November 2, 1968)
When antique hounds visit the cottage, Claymore tries to sell them the Captain's
barometer by switching it for a replica he had made.
8. Uncle Arnold the Magnificent (Original airdate November 9, 1968)
Carolyn's Uncle Arnold comes to visit just in time for Candy's birthday. A
traveling salesman that indulges in magic tricks on the side, he was always a
favorite of Carolyn's who remembers him as the uncle she rarely got to spend
time with.
9. Way Off Broadway (Original airdate November 16, 1968)
When Claymore gets Mrs. Muir to star in his amateur theatre production, the
Captain feels abandoned and decides to disrupt the show.
10. The Monkey Puzzle Tree (Original airdate November 30, 1968)
The Captain is very annoyed when Mrs. Muir decides to redecorate parts of his
cottage.
11. Captain Gregg's Whiz-Bang (Original airdate December 7, 1968)
Ghostly hanky-panky gives Mrs. Muir the reputation of a Jezebel.
12. Madeira, My Dear? (Original airdate December 14, 1968)
The Captain goes gallant to turn Mrs. Muir's head.
13. Love is a Toothache (Original airdate December 21, 1968)
Martha's romance gets some meddling and muddling from Mrs. Muir.
14. Mister Perfect (Original airdate December 28, 1968)
Carolyn receives a telegram from an old friend who is coming to Schooner Bay to
entice her to marry him. He arrives on his huge yacht and tries his best to be
charming, hoping that Carolyn will see her mistake of not marrying him in the
first place and will finally make the right decision. Captain Gregg, obviously
jealous of "her Philadelphia sailor", has a lot of fun making Blair as
uncomfortable as possible.
15. Dear Delusion (Original airdate January 4, 1969)
A psychiatrist insists there is no ghost in the cottage. He claims it's in Mrs.
Muir's head.
16. Dog Gone! (Original airdate January 11, 1969)
Scruffy the dog scraps with the Captain.
17. A Pain in the Neck (Original airdate January 18, 1969)
When the door knob on the bedroom starts to stick, the Captain insists that
Claymore be called to fix it, although Carolyn informs him she would rather have
it fixed herself. Not heeding her words, the Captain calls Claymore to Gull
Cottage, just as Claymore was preparing to leave for a vacation.
18. Strictly Relative (Original airdate January 25, 1969)
Mrs. Muir's in-laws plan an improbable match between the widow and the Captain
19. Chowderhead (February 1, 1969)
Much to the surprise of Captain Gregg, his likeness turns up on a clam-chowder
label.
20. It's a Gift (Original airdate February 8, 1969)
Buying Mrs. Muir a gift only nets trouble for the Captain and Jonathan.
21. Buried on Page One (Original airdate February 15, 1969)
Mrs. Muir's got double trouble from her lazy boss and the Captain.
22. Make Me a Match (Original airdate February 22, 1969)
Claymore's courtship gets a boost when it is guided by the Captain.
23. Jonathan Tells it Like it Was (Original airdate March 1, 1969)
Blame the Captain: Jonathan threatens to change his prize-winning school essay.
24. Medicine Ball (Original airdate March 8, 1969)
An intoxicating brew takes Mrs. Muir back in time and into the arms of a very
much alive Captain.
25. Son of the Curse (Original airdate March 15, 1969)
Jonathan and Candy find a beautiful antique clock locked in the wall of the
attic and it's decided that the clock should be hung in the front hall and used.
The Captain seems delighted with the find and asks if they do intend to start
it. Not sure why he is so happy at the thought of getting the clock fixed,
Carolyn soon discovers that the clock has a curse on it put on it by a former
Gregg. When the clock is started, the last living Gregg will die at midnight and
Claymore is convinced that he's a goner.
26. The Music Maker (Original airdate March 29, 1969)
It's one more irritation for the Captain after a minstrel wanders into his life.
Season 2
27. The Great Power Failure (Original airdate September 18,
1969)
A mysterious ghost ship brings a load of trouble for the Captain.
28. Centennial (Original airdate September 25, 1969)
Claymore pays dearly for giving away the Captain's prized silver tea set.
29. There's a Seal in My Bathtub (Original airdate October 2, 1969)
An errant seal flips his way into Gull Cottage---and into hot water.
30. Double Trouble (Original airdate October 9, 1969)Sean Callahan, a ghostly
associate of the Captain's, tries his charms on Mrs. Muir.
31. Today I Am a Ghost (Original airdate October 16, 1969)
A particularly funny episode where the ghost of a seaman comes looking for his
former Captain in dire need. It seems that even though Elroy has been dead for
over a hundred years, he can't seem to get a handle on the haunting aspect of
his existence. It seems that Elroy is afraid of people.
32. Madame Candidate (Original airdate October 23, 1969) A ghostly hand moves
against Claymore when he starts playing dirty politics.
33. Not So Desperate Hours (Original airdate October 30, 1969)
"Not So Desperate Hours" parodies the Bogart suspense classic with Guy Marks as
the convict.
34. Medium Well Done (Original airdate November 6, 1969)
Shirley Booth as a spiritualist who clashes with the ghost.
35. Surprise Party (Original airdate November 13, 1969)The Captain gets a lesson
in loneliness.
36. The Firehouse Five Plus Ghost (Original airdate November 20, 1969)
A wolfish fire commissioner helps Mrs. Muir campaign for a new fire engine.
37. Spirit of the Law (Original airdate November 27, 1969)
Mrs. Muir in jail? It could happen: she and the captain are protesting a
Government project.
38. Puppy Love (Original airdate December 11, 1969)
English actor Mark Lester plays the object of Candy's first love.
39. Host of a Ghost (Original airdate December 18, 1969)
Frightened repairmen think Gull Cottage is haunted, so the Captain leaves.
40. The Ghost and Christmas Past (Original airdate December 25, 1969)
As each family member falls asleep, they each share the same dream. The time is
set in the 1800's and Captain Gregg is alive just returning from sea to spend
Christmas with his loved ones. Each dream becomes specialized according to the
person --Jonathan dreaming of toys, Candy of the beauty of Christmas and
Claymore getting a good haunting ala Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol.'
41. Ladies' Man (Original airdate January 1, 1970)
With a little help from her friend the Captain, Mrs. Muir tries to make Claymore
a swinging bachelor.
42. Not So Faust (Original airdate January 8, 1970)
Ever-greedy Claymore gets a night in Hades, courtesy of the Captain.
43. Tourist, Go Home (Original airdate January 23, 1970)
An outraged Captain does his best to disrupt plans that would boost Schooner
Bay's tourist trade.
44. No Hits, No Runs, No Oysters (Original airdate January 30, 1970)
Jonathan's retirement in defeat from the baseball team spurs the ghost to some
fancy maneuvers.
45. Dig for the Truth (Original airdate February 6, 1970)
A ghostly hand is writing Mrs. Muir's newspaper articles and using her by-line.
46. Pardon My Ghost (Original airdate February 13, 1970)
Claymore confiscates the Captain's rarest antiques.
47. Martha Meets the Captain (Original airdate February 20, 1970)
A well-kept secret has Martha believing nobody cares about her.
48. Amateur Night (Original airdate February 27, 1970)
"Amateur Night" allows the locals to ham it up for a charity benefit.
49. Curious Cousin (Original airdate March 6, 1970)
Mrs. Muir's visiting cousin detects a male presence at Gull Cottage.
50. Wedding Day (Original airdate March 13, 1970)
Mrs. Muir's matchmaking parents pop in for a visit.
