The Incredible Hulk

David Banner, a research scientist who is haunted by the death of his wife whom he couldn't save in a car accident is researching how to tap the hidden reserves of incredible strength all humans have. While investigating episodes of people who have displayed such strength under times of great stress, he discovers that each one coincided with a solar flare spike of gamma radiation. Convinced by the link, Banner decides to put it to the test when he deliberately doses himself with gamma radiation. Unknown to him however, the machine was modified to give a far higher dose than he anticipated. While there was no immediate effect, he later learns that under extreme anger or stress he changes into a hulking and primitive green man. Banner tried to contain the hulk and figure out a way to stop the hulk from ever becoming out again. When the Hulk destroys his research lab and is spotted by a reporter named McGee Banner must go on the run to hide his secret until he can find a cure.

The series premiered in 1977, with two made for tv movies and then the series continued until 1982. It spawned several made for tv movies and cartoons as well as earlier cartoons based off the comic.
